Visual Localize is a tool for the translation and adaptation of the graphical user interface (GUI) of your software applications. The user can translate executable software modules into any national language. No programming skills are required. A preview (WYSIWYG) shows the context of the dialogs and menus in which the text appears in the running application. After the translation automated test routines check the application for errors which have been made during translation, e.g. text that doesn?t fit onto a control in the target language. In that way the error risk is reduced and the quality of the localized version improved. Only one person is required for any step of the localization process.

Wordfast is compatible with nearly all legacy translation environments (Trados, IBM Translation Manager, SDLX, DéjàVu, Transit, either through the TMX format, or directly, at native format level), with files prepared (tagged) for translation with standard tools, like the Trados (Stagger) or RWS (Rainbow) set of filters and, at translated (segmented, bilingual) document level with Trados: a Wordfast-translated file can be cleaned-up with Trados, and vice-versa. Wordfast can translate the following formats: any format that Microsoft Word can read, including plain text files, Word documents (DOC), Rich Text Format (RTF), tagged RTF, HTML, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint files. |

Truth be said, Wordfast is as good as Trados with the advantage of being a lot cheaper and the disadvantage of not being the most requested CAT-Tool by translation agencies. Wordfast offers excellent value for money and is easy to use.
If
the qualities of Trados can be found in Wordfast, the
same applies to its defects. You will face the usual
problems of these tools, sometimes they don't work as
they should for some intangible reason and you will have
to puzzle your brain to find a solution. You can install
a trial version of it before buying. |

Like translation memory software, WordFisher analyses a text, cuts it into segment (using similar segmentation rules, which can be customized). It can also pre-translate using bi-lingual glossaries and corpus either in one file or several filesin the same project simultaneously. However, it doesn’t find fuzzy matches. It can only look for total match.
